This week, the pupils at school started to learn about life your young children growing up in the slums of Mumbai – the largest city in India. 
Here, children have to pass an assessment at a nursery school, or ‘KENDRA’ in order to be able to attend primary school. 
The Beckley pupils looked at some photos of the Jyoti Kendra in Mumbai and were able to see for themselves just how different it was to the classrooms here. 
As part of our focus this year on ‘helping others’, Beckley pupils will be raising money throughout the year to help support the children at the Jyoti Kendra.
