On Friday afternoon, pupils from Acorns class joined members of Beckley Parish Council in planting a new tree in the school orchard, as part of an initiative celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
The ‘Queen’s Green Canopy’ is an initiative involving every parish council in Britain planting a tree to commemorate the Queen’s 70 year reign. Beckley School were very keen to link with the Parish Council and participate with them in this venture. A cherry tree was planted in the school orchard on Friday – the 70th day of the year, in the 70th year of the Queen’s reign! Despite the drizzle, our pupils from Acorns class were very excited to ‘plant a tree for the Queen’!
