Extra Curricular Sports
Alongside the PE lessons taught as part of our curriculum, we also run a number of extra-curricular sports clubs open to all children. Clubs have included basketball, netball, multi-skills and tennis. These extra-curricular clubs are run by our sports coach.
We hold whole-school sports events throughout the school year, including our annual Sports Day in the summer term.
Hastings and Rother School Games Partnership
Beckley are a member of the Hastings and Rother School Games Partnership – along with many of the other local schools. We participate in a wide range of events, competitions and festivals throughout the school year as well as receive visits from sports coaches from several local clubs. This rich and varied range of sport provides our children with many opportunities to be active, learn new skills, have fun and compete with others. Many of our children have represented the school at a sports festival or event.
Sports Mark Gold Award
In recognition of the variety of sport activities that we have run and the number of children who regularly participate, our school was awarded the Sports Mark Gold Award in 2018-19. This is a nationally recognised award, which also recognised the ways that we involve our children in running activities themselves. Many of our Year 6 children take on the role of ‘Sports Leaders’ in the school. They are trained to organise and deliver a range of sport-based activities and challenges which run during lunchtimes. These are enjoyed by all of our pupils and becoming a Beckley Sports Leader is something that many of our younger children aspire to!
